Built around what it carries

What goes inside yours?

A housing takes its shape from the component it carries. Pick the closest, and see what we machine and what to send.

Bearing or bushing

A body that holds a separate bearing or bushing in line with the shaft and the machine.

What we machine

  • The seat bore and its fit
  • A shoulder that locates the bearing
  • Retention: snap-ring groove, cover or retaining ring

What to send

  • The bearing part number
  • The shaft size
  • How the housing mounts

Sensor or instrument

A body that holds a sensor or instrument in position and protects it.

What we machine

  • The pocket for the sensor
  • Its position and angle
  • Cable or tube entries and access

What to send

  • The sensor model or its envelope
  • Where it has to point
  • How the housing mounts

Sub-assembly

A body or casing that carries and protects a group of components.

What we machine

  • Internal mounting points
  • Clearance for moving parts
  • Covers and access for maintenance

What to send

  • The assembly drawing or photos
  • What has to fit inside
  • How it opens and mounts

Replacing a housing?

Why housings are replaced

Common reasons, grouped by where they show. Send the old housing and we’ll take it from there.

At the seat

  • The seat has gone loose or oval
  • The component sits out of line
  • The retention groove is worn

At the body

  • Cracks from impact, fastener stress or handling
  • A clear cover crazed by cleaning
  • Broken mounting lugs or threads

Across the part

  • Heat has softened or distorted the body
  • Moisture or chemicals have changed the fit
  • Obsolete, unavailable or undocumented

A worn housing may no longer show its original fit or alignment. Send it with the component it carries, and tell us which surfaces you trust.

What we machine to

Six features that define the housing

DIAGRAM: housing with features 1–6 numbered to match the key

Send the drawing or the old housing. These are the features we machine to.

  1. Seat or cavity The bore, pocket or seat the component sits in, and its fit.
  2. Datums The reference faces that line the component up with the machine.
  3. Mounting faces and bolt pattern Where and how the housing fixes to the machine.
  4. Threads or inserts Threads cut into the plastic, or threaded inserts for a stronger, reusable thread.
  5. Cover and sealing face A removable cover, and the face it seals against.
  6. Openings Cable, tube or access openings, and their positions.

Fits and critical locations come from your drawing. We confirm them with the quote.
