Parts in CPVC

CPVC parts we machine

The parts we see most often in CPVC, and why it suits each job. We machine any CPVC part to your drawing or sample, listed here or not.

Where CPVC works, and where another plastic may suit

General guidance on how CPVC behaves. If your drawing specifies a CPVC grade, we machine to it.

Where it works

Heat
Handles hotter water and chemical service than PVC.
Chemicals
Resists most acids, alkalis and salt solutions.
Water
Holds its size in wet service.
Flame
Naturally self-extinguishing.
Rigidity
Stiff, so flat parts stay flat.

Where another plastic may suit

If the part needs Often used instead
Even higher heat For service hotter than CPVC handles, these keep their shape.
Solvents Ketones and chlorinated solvents attack CPVC. These resist far more chemicals.
Impact Rigid CPVC can crack from a sharp knock. These are tougher.
Lower cost At normal temperatures, PVC does the same job for less.

Precision in CPVC

How we machine CPVC

±0.002"–±0.005" On critical dimensions, depending on the plastic

CPVC is rigid and takes on almost no water, so most parts sit in the middle of our range. We confirm the critical dimensions with your quote.

  1. Heat at the cut

Heat at the cutter can mark or smear a CPVC surface.

We use sharp tooling, good chip clearance and coolant to keep the cut cool and clean.

  2. Edges and holes

Rigid CPVC can chip where a cutter or drill breaks through.

We control the feed at breakout and deburr every edge.

  3. Parts that run hot

CPVC is chosen for hot service, and plastic grows as it warms.

We machine and inspect to your drawing’s dimensions at room temperature, the standard reference for inspection.

Comparison

CPVC or PVC

CPVC is PVC with added chlorine. The difference that matters most is how hot the part runs. If your drawing specifies one, we machine to it. If not, tell us about the service and we’ll suggest one.

Buyer questions

CPVC FAQs

Both handle hot chemical service. PVDF goes hotter still and resists more chemicals, including many solvents that attack CPVC. CPVC costs less. We machine both, and if your drawing specifies one, we machine to it.

Yes. Send us the old part, even if it’s cracked or worn, and we’ll measure it and machine a new one through our reverse engineering service.

Yes. We supply CPVC sheet and rod, cut to size when you need it, through our material supply service.
