Machined, or with mounts fitted

Machined plastic baffles for tanks, vessels, chutes and hoppers. They redirect liquid flow or deflect falling product, matched to your worn baffle or made to your drawing.

Two kinds of baffle

Liquid in a tank, or product in a chute

Both stand in a moving stream and redirect it, but what wears them out is different. Tell us which one you have.

Dry product flow Material handling
Where it sits On the wall or inside a tank or vessel At a chute or hopper transfer
What it does Breaks up swirl, turns flow over or helps liquids separate Slows, turns or places falling material
What wears it Chemicals, temperature and cleaning Impact, abrasion and buildup
What to tell us The fluid and its concentration, temperature, cleaning and tank size The material, particle size, moisture, drop height and where it hits

Replacing a baffle?

Why baffles wear, crack or warp

Look at where the trouble is: the face, the mount or the process around it. These are things to investigate, not a diagnosis.

At the face

  • Chemical attack Softening, swelling or loss of stiffness in wet service.
  • Erosion or grooving A worn band where dry material hits the plate.
  • Warping or bowing The plate no longer sends the stream where it should.

At the mount

  • Cracks or looseness Fatigue around bosses and fasteners on a plate the flow keeps loading.
  • Crevices that trap material Dead areas at the mount that collect product or resist cleaning.

In the process

  • Buildup Material collecting behind or around the baffle changes the flow path.
  • Changed conditions New chemistry, a different product or a changed agitator.

A new baffle can’t fix a changed process. If the chemistry, product or agitator has changed, tell us what’s different.

What defines a baffle

Plate, edges and mounting

Send the design or the old baffle. These are the details we machine to.

  • Plate

Profile, overall size and thickness, flat or shaped.

  • Edges

Radiused or square, and edges that shed buildup.

  • Mounting

Bosses, brackets, fastener pattern and clearance to the wall.

  • Orientation

The angle and position the baffle sits at in the stream.

Ready to install. We can supply baffles with their mounts and brackets fitted, assembled with standard hardware, so there’s no second supplier.

Plastics for baffles

Chosen by what flows past it

Tell us the exact chemicals and concentration, temperature, cleaning and any abrasion, and we’ll suggest suitable plastics. These are the common ones; we machine most engineering plastics.

How your baffles are made

±0.002"–
±0.005"

On critical dimensions, depending on the plastic. Specs and CAD files are kept, so a reorder matches the last batch.

  • Plates and profiles milled

Flat or shaped plates CNC milled from solid plastic, with edges finished to your drawing.

  • Mounts machined in

Bosses, holes and slots where your vessel or chute needs them.

Buyer questions

Baffle FAQs

Something else? Call (630) 904-2525.

No. We machine to your design, your drawing or the old baffle; the design stays with you or your equipment maker. Send the vessel and agitator details with your request.

No. Shell-and-tube heat-exchanger baffles are metal structural parts. We machine plastic baffles for tanks, vessels, chutes and hoppers.

Food-contact documentation is available for the grades used in food zones. Tell us what your process requires and we’ll quote the right grade.

We hold ±0.002" to ±0.005" on critical dimensions, depending on the plastic. We review your drawing and confirm the critical dimensions with your quote.

Timing depends on the baffle, material and quantity, and comes with your quote. For an emergency breakdown, ask about our expedited service.

Not a baffle?

What does yours do?

Line and process parts are easiest to name by their job. We machine almost any plastic part, so if yours isn’t here, describe it in a quote request.
