Machined plastic wear rings for hydraulic cylinders, compressors and pumps. Made to your drawing or matched to your worn ring, with no minimum quantity.

Two jobs, one name

Which wear ring do you have?

A cylinder ring and a pump ring share a name but do different jobs, wear differently and need different information.

  • DIAGRAM: piston in bore with wear ring and separate seal labeled

    Cylinder & rod rings

Guide the piston or rod, carry the side load and keep metal off metal, which protects the seal. Also called guide rings, or rider rings in compressors.

    Signs it’s worn

    • Rocking or side play
    • Uneven wear or scoring
    • Seal trouble from lost guidance

Key thing to tell us: the groove and the ring’s cross-section.

  • DIAGRAM: pump case ring and impeller ring with running clearance labeled

    Pump case & impeller rings

A stationary ring and a rotating ring that hold a tight running clearance, limiting flow leaking back inside the pump.

    Signs it’s worn

    • Clearance growing
    • More internal recirculation
    • Galling between the rings

Key thing to tell us: both mating diameters and the clearance you need.

In cylinders, “wear ring” and “guide ring” usually mean the same part: one name stresses its sacrificial wear surface, the other its guidance.

Ring forms

Continuous or cut?

A cut ring opens to fit into a closed groove, and its gap leaves room for heat growth. Tell us which your drawing or old ring uses.

  • DIAGRAM: continuous ring joint

    Continuous

A solid ring, for grooves it can be slid into.

  • DIAGRAM: butt cut ring joint

    Butt cut

A straight joint across the ring.

  • DIAGRAM: angle cut ring joint

    Angle cut

A diagonal joint that overlaps as it closes.

  • DIAGRAM: step cut ring joint

    Step cut

A stepped joint that overlaps for better guidance across the gap.

What defines the ring

Matching your ring

Choose a ring type. A worn ring may not show its original section or gap, so we also work from the groove or mating sizes.

Cylinder and rod rings

Usually not. In a cylinder the wear ring guides the piston or rod and carries side load, while a separate seal holds pressure. Send the full groove and seal arrangement.

Tell us the exact grade your drawing or old order calls for, and whether an equivalent is allowed. We’ll confirm what we can supply with the quote.

We keep common sizes for repeat orders. Exact sizes and availability are confirmed when you quote.

We hold ±0.002" to ±0.005" on critical dimensions, depending on the plastic. We review your drawing and confirm the critical dimensions, such as cross-section, with your quote.

Timing depends on the ring, material and quantity, and comes with your quote. For an emergency breakdown, ask about our expedited service.
